Trying to find a local trucking company near where you live or even a transport company that ships vehicles from your state can be difficult. The auto transport industry is pretty crazy where there isn’t a Fedex or giant UPS type company that has thousands of carriers. A large car shipping company might have 10 or 20 trucks. Maybe half are open car carriers like you see bring 9 cars to a dealership and the rest may be enclosed car haulers for luxury auto transport or classic car shipping. Most trucking companies are small operations with 1 to 3 trucks and a wife or family member as their dispatcher. So the auto transport industry relies on companies like us to connect customers with the most reliable car transporters in your state. California, Texas, Washington, Kentucky, Iowa, South Dakota, Florida it doesn’t matter where your vehicle is or where it needs to be delivered we currently have over 7000 long haul truckers in our network.
License and Insurance
Is every car transporter fully licensed and insured? Yes of course, by law the Department of Transportation requires $100,000 of cargo insurance for each hauler. All of the car carriers in our network have a minimum of $500,000 of cargo insurance for our open haulers and $2 Million of insurance for the enclosed transporters. The license and bond required by the DOT is also $75,000 to ensure that all of our haulers are reliable as possible.
Are you hiring drivers?
The country as a whole currently has a huge shortage of truck drivers. Not just for shipping cars & trucks, but freight, mail, everything you can think of we are short on quality drivers. Big companies provide CDL learning school to help get new drivers their license. The same way we would tell clients that are looking to ship a vehicle to do their research to find a reliable car transport company. It’s basically the same process when you are looking to be hired as a car transporter. Companies like Reliable Car Carriers, Plycon, and CFR Rinkens are always looking for quality people to become truck drivers. So look at reviews first, the way a company treats their clients is a pretty good indicator on how they treat there employees.
Map Quest! Joking Google Maps
How did our society function when we didn’t have google? LOL. After checking reviews on transport reviews . com , Linkedin and Glass Door you want to use google to figure out the location of the trucking companies near where you live. The large car carriers will have a headquarters where maybe you fly too for training but being that they are in the trucking industry most car carriers are super flexible on where their employees actually live.
These are the same steps that we recommend our clients use when trying to find local car shipping companies that are reputable. Most importantly don’t just rely on a fancy website. Call the companies 1-800 number and speak to the transport agent and feel them out. Are they answering your questions with out pausing? Are they located in the US or do they have an over seas call center? Many auto transport companies have resorted to pawning out their logistics coordinators to companies in the Philippines or India. The best trucking companies have headquarters in the United States so you know they are fully licensed and insured.
